Austria vs. Germany

February 28th, 2007 § 2

Well this was supposed to be a post about the differences between Germany and Austria… but as far as I understood they main point is that in Austria they have a very nice Austrian slang!

Well…let’s continuing writing something…

I’ve arrived Austria after some problems in Cologne (that I cannot specify…) with a bottle of Porto Wine spoiled over all my clothes, the smell was quite notorious.

I’ve reached the meeting point with some spare coins that I had because my mobile phone didn’t cooperate and after meet him, Stefan was very nice and washed my clothes.

I first meet Mayra(Barcelona) because me and her were the first ones arriving Vienna. After a while went outside for meeting Niko(Tampere, Helsinki) that near.
After a while we meet Siret (Tallinn, Estonia) and we all went to the city center(Stephansplatz) where is located the gorgeous dome.

It was my third time in that place so I knew where to go to kill my hunger: McDonald’s around the corner…

After a while and after a coffee we went to the mountains by train where I slept because I had no sleep just after being in Cologne’s Carnival!

The place was middle of nowhere… just a ski station and some small houses. Nothing special…

After eating we started with get-to-know-games and the atmosphere was very friendly…

Next day I spent it skiing with the help of Kat and she teaching some tricks :P

Well, there was no much snow, just two slopes and most of the lower one was just grass… even though it was a hell of a fun to see people falling while taking the ski lift up, I didn’t had any problems after being one entire day in Hintertuxe skiing.

The evening was really crazy: International Evening! As usual I took some Porto Wine and some German sausages… while people were presenting their countries us, the Italians and Greek were already tasting our drinks…

It was a hell of a party, in a magnitude that I cannot describe with words… and even if I could I wouldn’t do it here!

Next day I was injured… not because of the skiing of that day but because of last night so I just rested all day!It was pity…

OK, back to work now!

Ah! About work… The stupid guys in St. Peter cut off the Internet connections to the people that didn’t pay for the Summer Semester! Without warnings! So theses days I spending my nights in nebo’s office. Cool hum? At least there’s nice coffee, juices and a small mini-golf.

More for next time! Sauna party, costume party and more!

Comments are for free!

Coming back home…

Hi people…

I know you were already missing my words around here… and in fact I was also missing to write some.

So the status is simple… I’m returning to reality after being 10 days in Vienna with more 20 people from all Europe(from Istambul to Iceland, from Lisbon to Finland, from North Ireland to Athens and so on) plus more or less 10 organizers that provided all the things for this to be one of the best BEST events I ever had!

I’ll talk later in detail about how it was but today I’m trying to be productive… this is just a relaxed 10min break (as advised by all the specialists).

Just let me tell that on the farewell party there is are some awards for the most dispar categories like BEST sauna lover, BEST drinker, BEST skier, BEST participant…

I’ve won 3 nominations including the most sleeping guy(as in Finland) and BEST participant and I’ve been the most voted and nominated person… ;)

I’ve been invited to Central Region Meeting provided by Brno LBG by the main organizer Milos… if everything goes accorded plan that will be my next BEST event.

Well need to go…

Kisses and hugs for the right people,
me just me

So long without posting Tiago?

Yes… Is a miserable fact…

The exam period is over and I must admit it was pretty shitty, till now I passed the German language course and, let me add, of course, failed the Compilers one.

I still can pass Compiler next semester and in fact I wasn’t prepared for it now. First 3 days of studying I didn’t had any script or exercise’s solutions. Last day I got the some solutions but it was just too late. I’ve also committed I huge mistake in the exam that I really don’t wanna mention…

It’s still missing the results for “Fund. of Buss. Adm.” and “Software Engineering”.
The first was quite OK but in the second I should receive a slap for not being able to complete it at time. I’ve spent half of the exam in one question and didn’t had enough time for the rest.

Well, I still hope that the Prof. likes my complex diagrams from that one exercise.

“Foundations” was quite OK… it’s a 1st semester subject and very easy.

About the teaching system here in Germany I really think, and now I can(after the exams), that is a very easy going one. The exams are pretty simple and you’re not pressed at all during the school period…
In fact the Germans are much more self-responsible than us that’s the point.

I thought it would be very difficult but studying here but is rather simple.

Well, more interesting news…
Most of the people (ERASMUS) will disguise in a pig costume for the Cologne Carnival. I’ll bring you the photos after the all thing.

After Cologne as you know I’ll go one week for Austria skiing and will return Nuremberg in a cheap flight from Vienna.
I’ll spend two more days in Vienna, maybe with Vroni(Vienna) and, of course, with Rita(Lisbon).

Today I just bought my next trip that will be with Sofia to London, I’ll stay one week. From 14 to 21 of March.
I really would want to take this chance to experiment a bit of couch surfing.

As you know www.couchsurfing.com is the biggest community of people sharing hospitality in the world, it counts with more that 160.000 people and growing and growing.
You can check my profile with this link:
http://www.couchsurfing.com/profile.html?id=1OK7R5U

I’ll spend most of my time till Cologne programming… and I’m really enjoy it!

Today I went for a drink with some Brazilians. Eventually the conversation went to “Jokes about Portugueses”.

//Sorry it will be in Portuguese, there’s no sense on it being in English.

Um Português rapta uma filha de uma homem brasileiro muito poderoso e envia-lhe uma orelha cortada com uma carta anexada dizendo:
“Para a próxima é a orelha da sua filha em vez da minha.”

One more interesting thing: search on Google with keywords “nebo cunsulting”. The first page showing up is, guess what, mine!
Fucking Google spell check.Or maybe, fuck me!

One more thing, as you probably noticed the blog has one upgrade… can you see on the left hand side the map with the visitors? That’s it!

Enjoy life as much as possible!Enjoy yourself and, better, enjoy yourself with some one else!

Hot and disappointing new :/

Well I’ve just received an email from beREIT coordinator informing me that I’ve not been accepted this time for this event.

Well it’s a pitty but that way I can maybe use the time with something else…

Well, it’s life: sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t!

I have an interesting link to share: http://www.iswi.org/iswiworld/e-2-1.html.

There will be a students meeting, up to 300 people discussing Education.

I think I’m gonna apply.

Cheers,
Tiago Matos
